Kicking off on Tuesday, January 13th is popular Irish band Pickled Wullie with a repertoire of festive Irish traditional songs with a pre-show by Julia Conradie. Julia Conradie is well-known at the Barleycorn Music club as performer and co-chairman of the committee. She likes to describe her work as a fusion between Folk & Alternative with Jazzy undertones as these are her primary musical influences. She mostly composes her own music with English and Afrikaans lyrics that is extremely honest with a bitter-sweet tang inspired by life, love and everything in between. Ms. Baumer, who will be making her Edinburgh debut in the production, has worked alongside Stephen Schwartz, Milton Schaefer and Harvey Fierstein, and has recently been singing at New York City Town Hall and Carnegie Hall. The production is the world premiere of the new comedy musical, which has music and lyrics from Stefan Bednarczyk, creator of the now-legendary UK comedy series 'Dick Barton' and co-writer/producer Jamie Read.
AUSTRALIA: DAVID CAMPBELL NEW ADELAIDE FESTIVAL ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Adelaide Festival Centre's CEO and Artistic Director, Douglas Gautier and Adelaide Cabaret Festival Chairman, Frank Ford announced today some major changes to the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. Julia Holt has announced her decision to resign after eight years as Director of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. Frank Ford AM, Chair of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival Committee and initiator of the Festival praised the Festival Centre for the success of the Festival to date.
Frank also announced today that the new Adelaide Cabaret Festival's Artistic Director will be Adelaide born David Campbell. David had originally agreed to direct the 2010 and 2011 Festivals but with the post vacated earlier than anticipated, he has graciously agreed to look after 2009 as well. Campbell is internationally recognized as an outstanding exponent of the art of cabaret. His expertise, skills, and artistic leadership will provide an exciting impetus for the growth of the Festival and for the artists involved. His international reputation will further enhance the recognition and the promotion, nationally and internationally, of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. posted
