DEAN REICHARD AND MATT HOWE IN "DOUBLE ENTENDRE"
Matt Howe and Dean Reichard celebrate "March is Cabaret Month" by performing
their two-man cabaret show, "Double Entendre" at CAPITOL HILL ARTS WORKSHOP
(545 7th Street SE, Washington DC) on Friday & Saturday, March 28 &
29th, both shows at 8:00 pm. In the show, Dean and Matt are two friends
singing their way through the twists and turns of love and life. Accompanied
on piano by musical director Elisa Rosman, Matt and Dean launch into
musical theater compositions by Irving Berlin, Maury Yeston, Stephen
Schwartz, Kander & Ebb, and others. The show is directed by Judy Simmons.
Dean Reichard has appeared at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW)
in six productions of Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. Dean produced
(with the GLBT Arts Consortium) and sang in two cabarets at CHAW (CHAWbaret),
the D.C. Cabaret Network Member Showcase, and in "Side Show" with
the Elden Street Players. Dean has studied with George Fulginiti-Shakar,
Judy Simmons, Lina Koutrakos and Rick Jensen. In February, Dean and
Amy Conley taught a course in cabaret for adults at CHAW.
Matt Howe has appeared on the stages of Washington, DC theaters
for sixteen years. He wrote and performed his multi-character, one-man
show, "Inside Out", at D.C.'s Playbill Cafˇ and at the Atlanta Gay
& Lesbian Arts Festival to great reviews. Matt acted in plays at Didactic
Theatre, Studio Theatre, Woolly Mammoth, and Washington Shakespeare
Company. Matt sang in two CHAWbarets, and is a member of the D.C.
Cabaret Network. In February, Matt sang in the DC Cabaret Network
Member Showcase.
Elisa Rosman (Music Director) recently music directed "Urinetown"
for the Reston Community Players and "A New Brain" at the Foundry
Players. Other local music directing gigs include "Side Show", "A
Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", "Mame", and "Merrily
We Roll Along". Elisa music directed two "Broadway Lights the Night"
benefits.
Judy Simmons (Director) is the executive director and founding member
of D.C. Cabaret Network and has appeared in Sondheim shows at Signature
Theatre and in cabarets throughout the Washington area. Her notable
stage appearances include the Beggar Woman in the first Signature
production of "Sweeney Todd" and Edna in "A Delicate Balance" at Everyman
Theater in Baltimore.
The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) is a community-based not-for-profit
organization whose mission statement is "Building community through
the arts". Located near Eastern Market Metro in S.E., CHAW offers
a multi-disciplinary program of classes each semester for youth and
