CABARET NEWS - NEW YORK CITY

EMILY SAXE IS "KEEPING YOU IN MIND" AT THE ALLEN ROOM
Singer Emily Saxe will make her New York concert debut at THE ALLEN ROOM at FREDERICK P. ROSE HALL (Columbus Circle, Broadway at 60th Street, NYC - CenterCharge: 212-721-6500 - http://www.jazzatlincolncenter.org/ ) on Friday & Saturday, April 4th & 5th at 8:00 pm. She will be performing selections from her debut CD "Keeping You In Mind" on the PS Classics label. Her all-star band features Greg Liesz on slide and petal steel, the CD's producer David Piltch on bass, Kevin Patrick Warren on keyboards, Mark Goldenberg on guitar, and Andrew Borger on drums. A versatile new stylist capable of crossing over from jazz to alternative, folk to blues and country to pop, Saxe sets out to reinterpret the American Songbook through alluring arrangements that place familiar pieces in arresting new context.

Keeping You In Mind is an introspective collection delivering superb vocals that weave a captivating spell: from the lilting country-tinged title track to a sexy samba-infused "With Every Breath I Take" to the achingly inviting "Last Day of Summer." Throughout the disc, Saxe displays a lyrical sensitivity that seamlessly blends with her lush guitar-based arrangements.

Emily Saxe comes from a long line of gifted musicians (a great-grandfather who traveled the country with a pump organ, a grandfather who collaborated with Johnny Mercer, a mother who's an accomplished jazz pianist), and she brings her musical legacy and talent to the fore in Keeping You In Mind.

Co-produced by Saxe and bassist David Piltch (whose numerous credits include Madeleine Peyroux, Lizz Wright, k.d. lang, and Bill Frisell), Keeping You In Mind features such in-demand players as Piltch on bass, slide and steel guitar player extraordinaire Greg Liesz (Joni Mitchell, Shawn Colvin), drummer Jay Bellerose (Paula Cole, Cassandra Wilson), keyboardist Patrick Warren (Fiona Apple, Tracy Chapman), and Juno award-winning guitarist Rob Piltch. Mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Jay Newland (Norah Jones's Come Away With Me), Keeping You In Mind is a debut album capturing an outstanding new talent.
