CABARET NEWS - NEW YORK CITY

NEW MUSICAL REVUE BOMBS AWAY! AT MAMA'S
Described as The Worst of the Best of Broadway, "Bombs Away!" by Larry Bortniker and Sally Deering will be presented at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmamanyc.com/ ) on Mondays, February 25th and March 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th and Tuesdays, February 26th and March 11th & 25th at 9:00 pm (except for the 17th & 24th, at 6:00 pm). The show centers on a fictional Dr. Barry Mishkin, curator of the American Musical Theatre Archives in Washington, DC, who has amassed a collection of numbers and scenes allegedly dropped from Broadway's classic musicals. Performers include Christopher Corts, Jerry Coyle, Sara Jane Everson, Lori Haley Fox and Bryan Scott Johnson. Musical director is Jana Zielonka. Peter Flynn directs and Dev Janki choreographs.

Dr. Mishkin and his troupe of actors present his collection against the wishes of the writers, their estates, their lawyers, the Supreme Court of New York, and more recently, the FBI's Musical Comedy Fraud Division. Undaunted by his legal troubles, Dr. Mishkin will not be stopped in his compulsion to present these rare, raw, frequently embarrassing pieces of Broadway history. As the evening progresses, Dr. Mishkin authenticates the provenance of his collection by providing anecdotal information and promoting his legal defense fund while preparing the audience for the strong possibility that there might be a raid.

A sampling of selections includes "Krakatoa," from South Pacific; "I Own a Nail Salon," from Miss Saigon; "I Shake Me Green Shillelagh" from Finian's Rainbow; "See Ya in IKEA," from Mamma Mia; "The Bris," from Fiddler on The Roof; and, the precursor to "Age of Aquarius," "Age of Uranus," from Hair.

Bryan Scott Johnson and Lori Haley Fox are presently starring in "Mamma Mia," on Broadway; Sara Jane Everson, who recently understudied Kristen Chenoweth in "The Apple Tree" on Broadway begins rehearsals for Broadway's "Shrek,"; Jerry Coyle recently performed in "Room Service" at Soho Rep; and Christopher Corts played in Bortniker and Deering's "Dr Sex" which ran Off-Broadway two years ago.

There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
