"PARODY TONIGHT" AT BROADWAY BABY BISTRO IN FEBRUARY
Alan Friedman, a former member of the noted Washington, D.C., comedy
troupe, The Capitol Steps, presents "Parody Tonight," an evening of
his own hilarious original comedy songs, in the MUSIC BOX at BROADWAY
BABY BISTRO & PIANO LOUNGE (318 West 53rd Street, NYC - 212-757-5808

) on Wednesday, February 27th at 7:00 pm. He will be accompanied by
his Emmy nominated musical director, Jonathan L. Segal. Alan co-wrote
such early Capitol Stepsā hits as "Immense Expense is Mainly in Defense."
He also penned more than 200 songs for his own musical comedy ensemble
in Atlanta, Georgia, once opened for Ray Charles and appeared at the
Las Vegas Comedy Festival before returning to the metro New York area.
More recently he has contributed songs to several
New York cabaret shows, including award-winning performance comedian
Rock Albersā "The World According to Rock," which Cabaret Hotline
Online said was "... probably his (Rock's) best show ever," and
"The Gotham Girl's Guide to Sex and Politics," also at the Music
Box Theater. In addition, he wrote songs for the political satire
show "Weekly Review" at Gotham City Improv and the "Turn Left" comedy
troupe.
Alan's songs take aim at a wide variety of current
events÷both political and non-political÷popular culture and any
other topical subject begging to be lampooned.
Jonathan L. Segal, the show's musical director, is
a pianist, singer, entertainer, songwriter and music educator. His
diverse career includes having written music for television (his
music for "One Life to Live" earned him an Emmy nomination); starring
in theatrical tours of Broadway shows; serving as music director
for television and both on and off-Broadway, and accompanying such
music greats as Chuck Berry and Dizzy Gillespie.
There is a $10 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
