SARAH MUCHO LAUNCHES NEW CABARET ROOM AT DON'T TELL MAMA
The original cabaret theatre at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street,
NYC - 212-757-0788 -
http://www.donttellmamanyc.com/
) has been completely refurbished, and there is now an entirely fresh
second space - a cozy show room with warm sienna-painted ceiling and
exposed brick walls. Launching this room on Tuesday, February 12 at
7:00 pm will be Sarah Mucho's "Subterranean Circus," a contemporary
cabaret exploring the current state of humanity. Additional performances
are scheduled for Wednesday & Thursday, February 13th & 14th at 9:00
pm.
Sarah Mucho, a featured performer in Mama's legendary
piano bar since 2000, shares stories, fables and lessons through
a variety of music including songs by Tom Waits, Simon & Garfunkel,
Bjork, Neil Young and the Kinks. She is joined by Bobby Peaco at
the piano, Annette Kudrak on accordian, Andy Blanco on percussion,
Alan Young on bass. The show is directed by Kristine Zbornik.
Sarah brings her "noir sci-fi performance art piece"
and a new audience to Don't Tell Mama. A spitfire of a singer, Sarah
has been highly successful as the lead of the acclaimed rock band
System Noise (www.myspace.com/systemnoise), who have played at CBGB's,
Arlene's Grocery, The Continental and the R Bar. She has done prior
acts at Mama Rose's and the Encore.
Her previous cabaret show - her take on the David
Bowie album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders
From Mars - was nominated for a 2005 MAC Award for Outstanding Female
Debut, and was popular for a long time after opening to press acclaim.
Don't Tell Mama has been going strong for 25 years.
Performers who have graced Don't Tell Mama stages have gone on to
become the $100,000 Grand Prize Winner on Star Search, and win the
Emmy, Grammy, Tony, Oscar and Pulitzer Prize Æ as well as countless
MAC, Bistro and Nightlife Awards.
