THE MUSIC OF KEVIN RAY FEATURED IN REVUE AT THE BEECHMAN
A new revue, SONGS FROM THE MAGIC TRASH CAN: The Music of Kevin Ray,
will be presented on Friday, January 18th at 8:00 pm at THE WEST BANK

). The evening of song promises to feature some of New York's best &
brightest up and coming singers, including Maude Maggert, Hilary Kole,
Ben Roseberry, Alysha Umphress, Brandon Cutrell, Jeff Washburn, Lisa
Asher, Suzanne Carrico plus the composer himself.
Originally from Los Angeles, California, Kevin Ray has
a unique stlye of piano based pop rock derived from growing up on
artists like Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello,
Joni Mitchell, and Billy Joel mixed with elements of theatre, jazz
and soul music. His songs are personal and literate and run from intensely
emotional to humorous to political.
Kevin has spent time in San Diego fronting the blues
rock band "Chuck Roast and the Electric Brunch", co-founded the theatrical
rock outfit "Ma's Furnace", released four CDs and was a union agitator
on Sunset Blvd. He has written and staged a reading of a full length
musical "The Last Word," about jazz musicians in Los Angeles in the
40s and is at work on another. He is currently living and performing
in New York City and recording his next project.
There is a $15 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
