RUBANO STARS AT THE HIDEAWAY ROOM IN FEBRUARY
"Change Partners" Debuts as His Latest CD and The
Theme of His Return to Manhattan Supper Clubs

Rubano celebrates both his much-anticipated return to New York cabaret
and the release of his new and already acclaimed CD when he opens
"Change Partners" at HELEN'S RESTAURANT, CABARET & PIANO LOUNGE (169

) on Thursday evening, February 3rd. Rubano's four-week engagement
plays Thursday through Saturday evenings at 9:30 pm and Sunday evenings
at 7:00 pm through February 27th. There is a $25 music charge and
a $15 food/beverage minimum for his performances.
Recipient of both Bistro and MAC Awards as outstanding
vocalist, Rubano will be accompanied at the Hideaway Room by Alex
Rybeck at the piano. Rybeck also serves as pianist and bandleader
on the "Change Partners" CD. That recording encompasses 17 classic
examples of the great popular song, from the title tune by Irving
Berlin through numbers by (among others) Sammy Cahn, James Van Heusen,
Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, Carole King, Cole Porter, George and Ira
Gershwin, Jerry Herman, Harold Arlen, E.Y. Harburg, Burton Lane, and
Alan Jay Lerner. Rubano's first CD, "Finishing The Act," won MAC's
Best Solo Recording award in 2001.
Rubano's preeminence in the field of international
cabaret has been increasingly lauded in the last few seasons. The
New York "Change Partners" show caps his recent triumphs: as the runaway
star of the Noel Coward birthday celebration at London's Jermyn Street
Theatre in December; Manhattan appearances for The Mabel Mercer Foundation's
annual Cabaret Convention, both at Town Hall and in a sold-out show
at The Cafe Carlyle; as headliner of the recent Howard Dietz/Arthur
Schwartz revue in Palm Springs; and in his preview performances of
"Change Partners" in Rubano's hometown of St. Louis, MO.
