ANNE BURNELL'S NEW CD CELEBRATES HAROLD ARLEN

Award-winning vocalist Anne Burnell, formerly Anne Pringle, is pleased to announce the 2005 release of her 3rd CD, BLUES IN THE NIGHT: THE SONGS OF HAROLD ARLEN as part of the Harold Arlen Centennial celebration. With arrangements by Count Basie Band veteran of 16 years Bob Ojeda, this CD is a standout. Among the musicians accompanying Ms. Burnell on this recording are Ojeda on trumpet, former Frank Sinatra Band trombonist Bill Porter, and Chicago's own, legendary violinist Johnny Frigo. The CD release party will be held at historical ANDY'S JAZZ (11 East Hubbard Street, Chicago IL - 312-642-6805 - http://www.andysjazzclub.com/ ) on Sunday February 13th, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A Chicago favorite, Andy's Jazz is celebrating a birthday too; they have been around for 30 years!

Composer Harold Arlen was born on February 15, 1905, and wrote many of the great American standards including "Over the Rainbow," "Stormy Weather," "Come Rain or Come Shine," and "The Man That Got Away," all of which are given special treatment by Burnell's velvety voice on this exciting new CD. The disk also includes many of his lesser-known classics like "A Woman's Prerogative," and "Happy with the Blues," which Arlen co-wrote with Miss Peggy Lee.

No stranger to Chicago jazz lovers, Anne Burnell, formerly Anne Pringle, has been performing to sell-out crowds at large festivals and small clubs in the Chicago area for 12 years. She's been seen at The Taste of Chicago and The Taste of River North, as well as at The Metropole Room (Fairmont Hotel), Toulouse on the Park, Pop's for Champagne, and Davenport's Cabaret with her pianist/vocalist Mark Burnell. The Burnell duo have also had successful engagements in New York City at Don't Tell Mama, Rose's Turn, and Judy's* Chelsea, in Amsterdam at Media Cafe B&W and in Paris at Les Trois Maillets.

The CD is available at www.CDBaby.com, Tower Records, and Jazz Record Mart. Listen to song clips at http://www.AnneBurnell.com/ .
