BABY JANE DEXTER RETURNS WITH "BREAD & GRAVY" AND A NEW CD

After her critically acclaimed show "Bread & Gravy" last fall, Baby Jane Dexter returns to HELEN'S RESTAURANT, CABARET & PIANO LOUNGE (169 Eighth Avenue, NYC - 212-206-0609 - http://www.helensnyc.com/ ) for an exclusive NY engagement. This will be the last opportunity for her fans to see this moving show. Musical director is Ross Patterson. At the same time, Ms. Dexter will be releasing her latest CD, based on this show and recordied live at HELEN'S earlier this year. This is a 4-week run of Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for 12 performances only from May 5th through May 18th, all shows at 9:15 pm. There will be $25 music charge and a $15 food/drink minimum.

Among the various material included in the show are songs by Cole Porter, Joni Mitchell, George and Ira Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Mick Jagger and Rod McKuen. One of cabarets most acclaimed artists, Baby Jane Dexter has been repeatedly honored by The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs receiving their coveted MAC Award five times. She sings the title song in the feature documentary, "If I Could," narrated by Sally Field, which will air on Discovery Health Channel in 2005.

Miss Dexter recently returned from an extended engagement in Alaska where she performed "Bread & Gravy" sponsored by WBRZ Jazz Below Zero, conducted her Healing thru Entertainment self-expression workshop with at-risk Eskimo teens, and sang and worked with Artic Women in Crisis. During her time in Alaska, the temperature where she was, was 59 below zero and it was dark 24 hours a day. It was from the desolate to the divine, last month, when Baby Jane was presented in a SRO concert in beautiful San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
