"At The Movies" CD Release Concert at Scullers

"At The Movies" tops off Boston's Cabaret Month celebrations on Wednesday, April 2nd at SCULLERS JAZZ CLUB (400 Soldiers Field Road, Allston, MA - 617-562-4111 - http://www.scullersjazz.com/). Will McMillan, Brian Patton, Michael Ricca, and Nina Vansuch will release their long awaited CD, featuring songs from their highly acclaimed revues: "Music of the 1950s & 60s" and "Fully Animated." Showtime is 8:00 pm. There is a $20 cover charge.

These four seasoned entertainers came together in 1999 to create "At The Movies," an evolving revue that celebrates music from the movies. Since then they have appeared in cities from Newburyport to New York, earning 2001 and 2002 nominations for Best Cabaret Performance from the Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE).

Praised for their playful rapport and unique vocal sound, all four members of "At The Movies" sing and even dance, thanks to choreographer Marla Blakey. Brian Patton is the group's pianist and musical arranger. At the April 2nd release show drums and bass will be part of the mix.

The vocal group's wide-ranging repertoire features new takes on old favorites from movies and TV shows, including "Georgy Girl," "A Bug's Life," "Valley of the Dolls," "Top Cat," "Yellow Submarine," "South Park" and "Breakfast at Tiffany's." This show will include songs by Randy Newman, Peggy Lee, Flaherty & Ahrens, Henry Mancini, Lennon & McCartney, and Burt Bacharach among others.

Will McMillan is a singer, songwriter and cabaret promoter who performs in "At the Movies" and hosts "Will & Company," a series highlighting local songwriters. He is PR Director at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education and watches over their Cabaret Connection. He also performs with Bobbi Carrey and Henry Schniewind, and is busy recording a CD of music by local songwriters. For more information, please visit http://www.willmcmillan.com/.

Brian Patton performs regularly throughout Boston as a singer, pianist and musical director. In addition to putting the finishing touches on the At The Movies CD, this winter Brian will tour the Caribbean as a featured performer with Boston's own Carol O'Shaughnessy on Holland America's S.S. Zuiderdam. By day Brian teaches music to little kids and at night he plays music with big kids. Brian is pleased to return to Provincetown this summer to perform with longtime musical partner Mary Callanan.

Michael Ricca has appeared in productions for SpeakEasy, Centastage, Boston Playwrights Theatre, New Rep and Boston Theatre Works. Most recently, he worked with the Huntington Theatre as understudy for two world premieres, "Marty" and "The Blue Demon." With New York's Chelsea Repertory Company he appeared in the plays "Dark of the Moon," "Journey of the Fifth Horse" and "Paradise Lost." Michael was a Cabaret Fellow at the 1999 Cabaret Symposium at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center, and he recently presented his one-man cabaret show "A Boy Like That" to sold-out audiences at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education.

Nina Vansuch is a performer, writer and arts educator who returned to the stage in 1996 with a series of one-woman musical memoirs: "Where Have I Been All Your Life?" (Parts one and two), "Love Songs for Dummies," and "Jump, Jive and Wail." She is the recipient of many grant awards for writing (including the aforementioned shows) and for producing arts programs. Her most recent award has been granted to develop her play, "Miss Me," which will be work-shopped in 2003.
