INSPIRED
BY PEGGY LEE AND THE MUSIC OF THE 1950s
FEATURING
JAZZ GREATS JOHN PIZZARELLI, BUCKY PIZZARELLI, RAY KENNEDY, KEN PEPLOWSKI
AND TONY TEDESCO
PS
CLASSICS has announced the release of "A Good Day" (ps-311), the follow-up
solo CD from jazz and theatre vocalist Jessica Molaskey, through http://psclassics.com/
and in stores nationwide. The all-star jazz band features her husband,
guitarist-singer John Pizzarelli on guitar and vocals, Bucky Pizzarelli
on guitar, Ray Kennedy on piano, Tony Tedesco on drums and Ken Peplowski
on clarinet. The arrangements are by John Pizzarelli, Ray Kennedy,
Don Sebesky and Dick Lieb. The recording was produced by Allen J.
Sviridoff and John Pizzarelli with Tommy Krasker serving as executive
producer for PS Classics.
"A Good Day"
is the eagerly awaited follow up to Jessica's first CD, "Pentimento"
(ps-205), which was released last year to enthusiastic response. As
"Pentimento" put a jazzy new twist on popular songs of the 1920s and
1930s, now Jessica sashays into the 1950s with a collection inspired
by the song stylings of Peggy Lee and her own guitarist-husband Dave
Barbour. The CD brings spirit and swing to numbers by Lee and Barbour
("It's A Good Day," "I Don't Know Enough About You"), new songs in
style of the era by Molaskey and John Pizzarelli ("Adam & Eve," "I
Wouldn't Trade You") and classic standards ("Side by Side," "Somebody
Loves Me").
Jessica Molaskey
has performed with the "First Family of Cool" - John, Bucky and Martin
Pizzarelli - at venues around the world from FEINSTEIN'S AT THE REGENCY
in New York City to the Montreal Jazz Festival. Jessica has also been
featured at Lincoln Center's American Songbook Series, CARNEGIE HALL,
JOE'S PUB, RAINBOW & STARS, and with orchestras and in concert venues
across the country.
As a theatre
actress, she was most recently featured at Lincoln Center Theatre's
new musical "A Man Of No Importance" by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
Other major credits include the world premieres of the new musicals
"3HREE," directed by Hal Prince and the Stephen Sondheim/John Weidman
musical "Wise Guys," directed by Sam Mendes. She was featured in the
Tony Award winning musical "Parade," directed by Mr. Prince, at Lincoln
Center and "Songs For A New World," directed by Daisy Prince, in which
she introduced the new standard "Stars and the Moon."
PS Classics
is helmed by Tommy Krasker and Philip Chaffin. Its celebrated solo
