Ms. Kent
s a native New Yorker who has been a household name in Europe for
the better part of a decade - she routinely sells out concerts in
England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Finland and Belgium. Now the
London-based singer is set to take her place as a rising star in her
native United States. Her rise to fame reads like a Hollywood script.
As a student she visited Europe to study comparative literature, but
through a series of unexpected twists of fate and well-placed demo
tapes, Stacey has become one of the world's foremost jazz singers.
She now boasts six best-selling albums, a string of awards including
the 2001 British Jazz Award and 2002 BBC Jazz Award for 'Best Vocalist,'
several regular programs on BBC Radio and a fan base around the world.
Stacey's
unique conversational singing has already been acclaimed by critics,
celebrities and top names in Hollywood. Her recordings have been placed
on countless "10 Best" lists. Stacey's high-profile fans include Clint
Eastwood, who personally invited her to sing at his 70th birthday
party, Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey. She recently appeared in lan
McKellen's film Richard III opposite Robert Downey Jr., Kristin Scott
Thomas and Dame Maggie Smith. Kazuo Ishiguro, author of the best-seller
"The Remains of the Day," picked one of Stacey's CDs as of one his
"desert island discs."
