Jay Stephenson and Chezanne Lear Release New CD

Two of Australia's leading vocal talents, Chezanne Lear and Jay Stephenson, have teamed up to release a new CD, appropriately titled "At Last." The 12 tracks include solo performances as well as duets, with fully orchestrated backings provided by Danny Hooper, Lisa Baraldi, Rocky Todorovski and Chez herself. Chezanne Lear & Jay Stephenson "At Last" is now available through Middle Eight Music online at http://www.middle8.com/.

The pair have known each other since the early 1980s, when Chez taught Jay singing at the Johnny Young Talent School. Later they discovered they had a unique vocal blend and have performed together many times on the Sydney entertainment scene and in the Illawarra region where they both live.

It wasn't until 2001 that the idea of recording a CD together began to be realized. Over a period of 18 months they squeezed enough time out of their busy schedules to record the album. The result is a delightful collection of show tunes and pop hits, ranging from "Corner Of The Sky" (Pippin) and "This Is The Moment" (Jekyll & Hyde) to "The Shoop Shoop Song," made famous by Cher, and hits from movies such as Strictly Ballroom and Moulin Rouge.

Chez began her professional career at the age of 17, having studied singing and piano from an early age. She has appeared in many musicals with such groups as The Arcadians, The Guild Theatre, Conservatorium Theatre Company and The MJ Ensemble, with whom she played the lead in Puccini's opera Suor Angelica. Chez has worked with some of the world's leading conductors and producers including Richard Bonynge and Andrew Sinclair. In addition to her opera work, Chez has worked extensively on the club circuit and as a session singer for records and jingles. For many years she has also run her own music school.

Jay grew up in a musical environment with parents who were both professional musicians, so it's hardly surprising that he went on to forge a successful career in show business. As a singer and musician, he has worked throughout Australia and performed at such prestigious venues as Sydney's State Theatre and the Sydney Opera House. As an actor his television credits include E Street and A Country Practice, and he has been seen in commercials for Pizza Hut, Coca-Cola, RTA, BBC Hardware, Prima Orange Juice and the "Heroin screws you up" campaign. Jay is also well known amongst cabaret and music theatre fans for his wonderful collaboration with Alex Harding on the CD called FOUND.
