NEW CD FROM JOHN BOWLES - THE PETER ALLEN SONGBOOK

To coincide with an Australian national tour of his tribute show to the legendary Peter Allen (the man known as "The Boy from Oz"), the ever-popular John Bowles has released his third solo CD, "The Peter Allen Songbook," released through Middle Eight Music and is available online at http://www.middle8.com/ (JBP 003). The album features ten of Peter Allen's best-loved songs, including "I Honestly Love You," "Arthur's Theme," "Tenterfield Saddler" and "I Still Call Australia Home." It's a classy production, with John at the peak of his powers as both a superb vocalist and a sensitive interpreter of lyrics.

John, the recipient of two Mo Awards and two Green Room Award nominations. He continues to be one of Australia's most versatile performers, at ease in a major musical, on television or in cabaret. Growing up on Australian television as a member of Young Talent Time, John spent five years travelling the country with the team. During this time he recorded solo and group records, and clocked up an amazing 250 hours of live variety television.

His stage credits include the character of Raoul for 1,000 performances of The "Phantom of the Opera," Ambrose Kemper in the Australian tour of "Hello, Dolly!," the narrator Munkustrap in "Cats" throughout Australia, Asia and South Africa, and Hero in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" in Australia and New Zealand.

John produced and performed in the 1999 production of "Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens" and has since written and toured two shows of his own, "The Peter Allen Songbook" and "Frankly Sinatra."

John has also become a freelance presenter and producer for radio and TV. When his 30th Anniversary documentary on Young Talent Time screened on Network 10 it was the highest rating program of the day.
