is pleased to announce the release of "David Pascucci Sings Previn
and Previn." This collection of songs is exquisitely arranged by musical
director Steven Applegate and superbly sung by newcomer David Pascucci.
Pascucci's desire to record this semi-obscure material has given the
world its first real offshoot recording of the cult movie classics
"Valley of the Dolls" and "Inside Daisy Clover," with two of the songs
on this album having never before been released. The first track,
"Daisy" is reprised with Iyrics that were never included in the movie,
and were sent by Dory Previn, herself, to be released commercially
for the first time. This haunting melody finally finds a stunning
life in this world premiere. "A Happy Song" was cut from "Inside Daisy
Clover" as a result of time edits, but thanks to David's keen eye
and research he was able to track down the song that was originally
meant for Daisy's debut film "Sand Lot Kid."
This CD was recorded at
the famous Capitol Recording Studios and boasts an orchestra of over
twenty musicians. Adding a stroke of irony, all of the songs were
originally sung by female characters in the films with the only exception
being "Come Live with Me," a song sung to Sharon Tate's character
by a lounge singer in the cult movie classic "Valley of the Dolls."
Also included is the song that was a hit for Dionne Warwick and is
the most recorded Previn & Previn song, "Theme from Valley of the
Dolls." This totally unique recording will take you back to the beloved
B-movie days and may even inspire you to make a mad dash for the nearest
video store.
David Pascucci was born
in Lancaster, NY and studied Voice and Composition Theory at the Fredonia
School of Music in Fredonia, NY. After college David moved to Manhattan
and showcased his talents in the local clubs, as well as working in
film and television. He moved to Los Angeles in 1989 and began to
frequent the open mic circuit and soon began working with Steven Applegate.
The two collaborated on a series of showcases at the Oasis Cabaret
and The Other Side cabaret. David recently appeared at the Cinegrill
in his own show where he debuted his versions of the Previn material.
This is David's first full length recording for LML Music. He not
only sang all the tracks, he also overdubbed all background vocals,
worked as the copyist, post production digital audio editor and associate
recording engineer.
