Irish
singer, Enda Markey is back in Melbourne to launch his new album,
entitled "By Popular Demand" at THE ATHENAEUM THEATRE (188 Collins
Street, Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - 03-9650 1500 - http://www. Ticketmaster7.com/)
on Tuesday October 8th at 7.30 pm. Tickets are $32 ($22 concession)
. The album, which was recorded live in Dublin, is the second release
from the singer who has been gaining an international reputation as
one of the leading entertainers working in theatre and cabaret.
Performing in Melbourne
for one night only, "By Popular Demand" is Enda's first performance
here since his successful appearance at CHAPEL OFF CHAPEL last year.
During his visit to Australia last year, he fell in love with Melbourne
so much that he now lives there. He recently appeared to great acclaim
at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.
The songs in "By Popular
Demand" were chosen by Enda's many fans around the world. The performance
fuses traditional musical theatre and cabaret and features standards
from musical theatre as well as songs by David Bowie, Gene Pitney,
Robbie Williams and some traditional Irish songs for good measure.
Enda will perform the songs in his self-deprecating and relaxed style.
Enda Markey's professional
career has spanned fifteen years, since his debut performance as a
child at The Abbey Theatre in Dublin through to appearances in major
musical theatre productions in the UK and Ireland. At twenty, he became
the youngest person ever to star in a production of "Side By Side
By Sondheim" (Dublin) and he has gone on to appear in cabaret and
concerts in Ireland, the UK and Australia.
