"Made In America" CD Pays Homage To Vaudeville

Original Cast Records has announced the release of a new CD, "Made In America - Vaudeville Songs 1900-1926." Twenty-two all-time favorite songs from the turn of the century through the Roaring 20s are included in the new CD.

Among the songs included are "Carolina in the Morning," "When my Sugar Walks Down the Street," and "You Made Me Love You." The cast includes three adults and three children singing these popular and long-forgotten songs from the beginning of the 20th century. Featured in the cast are Brian De Lorenzo, Erin Romero, Laura Oseland, Ashley Birmingham, Sofie Zamchick and David McMullin. Arrangements are by Mark Hartman.

"Made in America" is a tribute to the mainstay of entertainment at the turn of the last century Ü vaudeville," said Michelle Russell, producer. "Actually, this project began with some research I was doing six years ago for a living history program for the Judy Garland Birthplace in Minnesota. My fascination with vaudeville, which began at that time, has culminated with this CD, which is a vibrant, living, wonderful memory of the music and songs of that era."

A hundred years later, vaudeville is enjoying a comeback in popularity. Around the country, hundreds of former vaudeville houses are being restored. "It's very exciting to see this resurgence in popularity, and the steps communities are taking to keep alive this tradition, which has been so much a part of Americana," said Russell.

The cast of "Made in America" will be performing at a variety of locations over the next 60-90 days, including various vaudeville houses, professional and community theaters, as well as several New York City cabarets.

More information can be obtained by visiting the "Made in America" website, http://vaudevillesona.tripod.com/vaudevillesones. Copies of the new CD are available at Footlight Records, Colony Records and various Tower Records in NYC.
