FYNSWORTH ALLEY AND AFTER 9 RECORDS PRESENT THE NEW CD FROM JAZZ LEGEND BARBARA CARROLL

"ONE MORNING IN MAY" FEATURES JAY LEONHART & KEN PEPLOWSKI IN STORES AUGUST 13th

FYNSWORTH ALLEY and AFTER 9 RECORDS will release "One Morning In May," the new CD from piano jazz icon Barbara Carroll on August 13th. The CD is produced by Jay Leonhart and Ms. Carroll, with Lisa Schiff serving as executive producers.

"One Morning In May" is a subtle and sophisticated recording in Barbara's trademark progressive, percussive and lyrical style. Joined by an all-star lineup ¬ Jay Leonhart on bass, Joe Cocuzzo on drums, Ken Peplowski on tenor sax and clarinet, Jay Berliner on guitar and Randy Sanke on trumpet ¬ Barbara performs classic jazz standards by Gershwin & Gershwin and Rodgers & Hart as well as rare numbers by Sammy Cahn, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and more. Also included are original compositions by Ms. Carroll.

Barbara Carroll is an elegant jazz pianist, composer and vocalist who is regarded as one of the most fascinating purveyors of swinging jazz piano and expressive vocals. Whether Ms. Carroll is rendering a composition by Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, Billy Strayhorn or Thelonius Monk, her inventive piano playing and unique vocal sound insure that she will transform that song into her own art with her emotional directness and respect for the tune and all of its many possibilities.

Ms. Carroll made her New York debut at the Downbeat Club on legendary 52nd Street. Her diverse musical career has encompassed appearing on Broadway with her trio in Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Me and Juliet" to appearances in concert halls, jazz clubs, on major TV shows and festival stages throughout the world. She has performed for President and Mrs. Clinton at the White House and has made over thirty major label recordings with an array of jazz luminaries that includes Art Farmer, Claudio Roditi, Bucky Pizzarelli and John Pizzarelli. Ms. Carroll is also the 1998 recipient of a MAC Award for "Best Major Jazz Performance." Equally at home in a concert hall or intimate music room, she connects with her audience through the passion, joy and emotional power of her performance.
