RECORDS will release the latest CD by critically-acclaimed cabaret
artist Phillip Officer, Hoagy on My Mind: The Musical World of Hoagy
Carmichael. His release engagement at ARCI'S PLACE (450 Park Avenue
South, NYC - 212-532-4370 - http://www.arcisplace.com/)
will run from May 13th through 27th. The album, featuring Jazz legend
Johnny Frigo on violin, Joe Vito on piano and accordion, and Jim Cox
on bass, will be available in stores on May 15th.
With Hoagy on My Mind,
Mr. Officer features the work of legendary songwriter Hoagy Carmichael.
His songs, such as "Star Dust," "Heart and Soul" and "The Nearness
of You," celebrate America's landscape with subtle poetry and rhythmic
pulse.
Mr. Officer has performed
at Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, Rainbow & Stars and The Algonquin Hotel's
Oak Room, among other venues. He is the winner of several MAC Awards,
including Major Male Vocalist in 1997 and 1998 and Outstanding Male
Vocalist in 1992 and 1993. He was also awarded the 1992 Back Stage
Bistro Award for Outstanding Male Vocalist. On Broadway, Mr. Officer
created the role of "Geek" in the Tony nominated musical SIDE SHOW.
He also appeared Off-Broadway in ELEGIES FOR ANGELS, PUNKS AND RAGING
QUEENS and regionally in HAMLET (directed by Ellis Rabb), ROSENCRANTZ
& GILDENSTERN ARE DEAD (directed by Gerald Gutierrez) and STARCROSSED
(directed by Martin Charnin). His other recordings include: "Fancy
Meeting You: The Lyrics of E.Y. 'Yip' Harburg," which received the
1992 Back Stage Bistro Award, "Many A New Day: The Lyrics of Oscar
Hammerstein II" and "You Keep Coming Back Like A Song."
