THICK TUESDAY MOVES TO MONDAYS FOR NEXT FEW MONTHS
After a year producing and hosting The Song of the Month Club, 2 years
producing and hosting The New Stars of the Purple Onion showcase, 6
years producing and hosting Thick Tuesdays Singers Performance Workshop,
the Kitchenettes (Lua Hadar, Linda Kosut and Barry Lloyd) are germinating
a new idea involving THICK HOUSE THEATRE (1695 18th Street, San Francisco,
CA - http://www.thickdescription.org/
) and the fames Kitchenettes Cabaret Master Classes. The trio have just
begun their 4th series of Cabaret Master Classes. This series runs January
to April and will culminate in a public performance at The Octavia Lounge.
To allow folks who have expressed interest in the classes,
it is felt that the music community may be interested in a new concept,
so for the months of February, March and April of 2007 the Master
Class, generally held upstairs from Thick House, will be held once
a month in the Theater itself, where Thick Tuesdays has been (except
it will be on Mondays). The students enrolled in the class, which
begins at 6:30 pm, will have their regular weekly class, in which
they are coached by all three on many aspects of performance. On these
once-a-month-in-the-theater evenings, auditors from the public may
observe the Master Class for a $10 admission fee. The class runs from
6:30 to 9:30 pm.
After the class session, from 9:30 to 10:00 pm there
may be a group sing around the piano with Barry or open mic for those
auditors who may be interested to sing. There wil also a vintage sheet
music giveaway, thanks to Bob Johnson.
Dates for the new "Thick Mondays" are February 19th,
March 26th, (April 16 to be decided). Programming from May to December
2007 will be announced later.
