) for performances on Monday & Tuesday, January 22nd & 23rd at 8:00
pm. The show features Mr. McDowell, with musical direction by Dave Dobrusy
and direction by Ms. McNight. The Anthony Newley Project shines a light
on the unique life of this talented writer, director and ultimate entertainer.
For 30 years Anthony Newley was one of the most imposing talents to
come out of England this side of the Beatles.
Kristopher McDowell, who pays tribute to Newley in this
all new show, was recently honored with the Dean Goodman Award (Leading
Actor in a Musical) for his role in THE ROAR OF THE GREASEPAINT -
THE SMELL OF THE CROWD. He has worked off-Broadway and in regional
theatres throughout the United States as been featured in full scale
musical touring productions. His acclaimed cabaret and concert acts
have played the major US cities and London's West End. In 2001 McDowell
received a nomination for Outstanding Male Cabaret Debut from MAC
(Manhattan Association of Cabarets). Kristopher has a full-length
solo CD (Faces of Love) and can be heard on four compilation albums
and two original cast recordings.
In addition to the shows director, award winning luminaries
Alison Fraser and Andrea Marcovicci have contributed special material
and information about Newley for this special tribute. The show defines
Anthony's life by exploring both well known and lesser known songs
from his vast repertoire.
