LAURA HULL AND RIO CLEMENTE PRESENT WINTER SWEET
Jazz Vocalist Laura Hull and Bishop of Jazz, master pianist Rio Clemente
appear in their first show together at STOCKTON INN (1 North Main Street,
Stockton NJ - 609-397-1250 - http://www.bobegan.net/stockton-inn.html
) for one night only on Friday, February 23rd at 8:00 pm. The two are
sharing the stage in a sophisticated evening of songs that evoke the
spirit of winter. "Winter Sweet" will comprise the music of Berlin,
Gershwin, Porter and Wilder, plus a few surprises.
Laura Hull's career began at the resort hotels of upstate
New York's fabled Catskill Mountains and has continued her career
as a jingle, showcase, session and lead singer. She made her NYC,
Chicago and New Hope cabaret debut in 2003 with "No Regrets," directed
by cabaret producer Bob Egan. In 2004, she and her singing partners
won acclaim at the Midtown Cabaret Festival for their vocal revue,
"3 For The Show," directed by Bistro award-winning Gerry Geddes.
In NYC, she has performed at Danny's Skylight Room,
Mama Rose's, and St. Peter's Midtown Jazz at Midday to name a few.
Laura leads her own jazz ensemble and just concluded an 18-month run
at the Westin Governor Morris Hotel in Morristown, NJ, and is currently
hosting the "Sunday Singers Showcase" at EIGHTY EIGHTS (1467 Main
Street, Rahway, NJ). She performs weekly at a variety of jazz venues
in NY, NJ, and CT. Laura co-produced her debut CD of original music,
"Hullabaloo," with musical director and arranger, Pat Firth, which
has garnered her several songwriting awards.
Rio Clemente's career began with a BMI scholarship for
musical theater and subsequently studied at the Julliard School of
Music. A grant from Broadway Tomorrow for new composers followed and
soon he was making television appearances and playing professionally
at the JVC Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, Avery Fisher Hall
and Carnegie Hall. He has played at the United Nations, has appeared
with the Jefferson Symphony in Golden, CO, the Livingston, NJ Symphony,
and with various ensemble groups. He has appeared at jazz venues around
the country, performed for dignitaries from coast to coast and recorded
for a variety of labels.
Rio has composed the music for three musicals including
acclaimed family musical, "Dobdinob" and has released 8 CDs under
his own label. As a music educator, Rio leads the Generations of Jazz
program for the New Jersey Jazz Society and presents customized education
programs for other organizations including "Viva La Musica Latina."
He performs weekly at jazz and concert venues around NY, and NJ.
Rio is a long-standing member of the Friars Club; voted
"Professional Artist of the Year" by the Morris County Arts Council;
named "Musician of the Year" by the New Jersey Jazz Society; and NJ
Monthly Magazine named him among its "Top 40 New Jerseyans."
There is a $20 cover, $10 food/drink minimum.
