EJAYE TRACEY TAKES MAC NOMINATED SHOW TO COBI'S PLACE
Cobi Narita, a longtime producer of Jazz and director of Jazz Center
of New York, Inc., is presenting Ejaye Tracey in her highly acclaimed
and original one woman show "Songs in The Key of My Yesterday - Major
and Minor" at COBI'S PLACE (158 West 48th Street, NYC - TKTS: 516-933-2010)
on Tuesday October 20th with sets at 8:30 & 10:00 pm. This is a revised
edition of the show that won her a nomination for Manhattan Association
of Cabaret and Clubs (MAC) Best Female Jazz Vocalist of 2007 Award.
The debut of this show was performed last year at
Don't Tell Mama. Her new musical director and pianist is Frank Owens,
famed musical director of Petula Clark, John Denver, Lena Horne
and Johnny Mathis as well as the film version of The Wiz and NBC's
Showtime at the Apollo. Ms. Tracey will be backed by a Jazz Trio.
Ms. Tracey, who has studied music since childhood,
can remember hearing recordings of Duke Ellington and Count Basie
in her crib, lives to perfect, preserve and expand the jazz tradition
through her instrument. She first honed her skills in performance
as an actress on the Theatrical Stage and in Films and Television.
She was a mainstay of the Jazz scene in New York in the late 80's
and early 90's before moving to Los Angeles for 10 years. She appeared
in many jazz venues on the West Coast including the Jazz Bakery,
The Gardenia, Hollywood Casino and Billy Higgins Jazz Workshop.
Ejaye has headlined Women In Jazz Festival in Ohio,
First Night in Connecticut and appeared in many venues in New York
City and Upstate New York. She has previously worked with such jazz
notables as Frank Foster and Barry Harris, and, recorded with Taj
Mahal, David Murray and Della Reese.
