MOIRA DANIS REPRISES PETULA CLARK TRIBUTE
Moira Danis brings her acclaimed show BEAUTIFUL SOUNDS - a loving
tribute to the remarkable career of Petula Clark to THE DUPLEX CABARET
THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 -
http://www.theduplex.com/
) on Thursday March 22nd at 9:30 pm and Saturday March 24th at 5:00
pm. Moira presents Ms. Clark as a singer, a songwriter, and an actress
- touching on all aspects of her art, from the recording studio to
television to Hollywood and to the stage, and including both well-known
and rare songs.
The show is in no way a recreation or "impression"
of Ms. Clark, but rather a celebration of her work. The material
will not be slavishly faithful to original arrangements or contexts.
Working with the brilliant musical director, Wells Hanley (with
whom she recorded I WISH), Moira makes the songs her own as she
celebrates Petula Clark's many accomplishments. Also joining Ms.
Danis on stage is Rubin Kodheli on cello and Brian Griffin on percussion.
The show is directed by Gerry Geddes.
With her classically trained lyric soprano voice and
her unbridled enthusiasm, Moira has fashioned a string of unique,
tuneful cabaret shows over the past few years - exploring the joys
of youth in First Childhood and the varied facets and delights of
Latin music in Double Rainbow. I Wish It So, her last, show, served
as the basis for her well-received debut CD, I Wish.
There is a $15 cover charge plus 2 drink minimum.
