MARY FOSTER CONKLIN AT ENZO'S JAZZ MARCH 7th
Mary Foster Conklin makes her debut appearance at ENZO'S JAZZ AT THE
JOLLY HOTEL MADISON TOWERS (22 East 38th Street, NYC - 212-802-0600)
on Wednesday, March 7th with sets at 8:00 and 9:30 pm. She will be
joined by pianist/arranger John diMartino, with bassist Scott Lee
and Ron Vincent on drums.
Mary's choice of material has always been an eclectic
mix of contemporary songs and lesser known standards. Her latest
recording, BLUES FOR BREAKFAST - REMEMBERING MATT DENNIS (Rhombus
Records) is a collection of songs by the late Matt Dennis, best
known for his hits "Angel Eyes" and "Violets for your Furs". The
album is a culmination of three years research which began at the
Library of Congress and has since been performed on both coasts,
to critical acclaim.
Conklin has appeared in theatres, jazz clubs and cabarets
throughout the United States, including The Blue Note, The Iridium
and Sweet Rhythm in New York, The Jazz Bakery and The Vic in Los
Angeles, and The Cultural Center and Park West in Chicago. She is
a vocalist with drummer/composer Art Lillard's 15-piece Heavenly
Band and can be heard on his latest recording REASONS TO BE THANKFUL
on Summit Records. She recently presented a lecture/performance
at Connecticut College this past September, highlighting the theatre
songs of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, made famous by Peggy Lee
on the cult favorite MIRRORS recording.
There is a $15 cover charge and a one drink minimum,
with complimentary antipasti served by Ristorante Cinque Terre.
