DAN MANJOVI PERFORMS LIVE AT THE BITTER END
Singer/songwriter/musician Dan Manjovi & His Band will perform at
THE BITTER END (147 Bleecker Street, NYC - 212-673-7030 -
http://www.bitterend.com/
) on Wednesday, February 28th at 7:30 pm. There is a $10.00 music
charge. Dan's first-rate band includes some of the most sought-after
musicians in New York. They are Kirk Driscoll on drums, Steve Lucas
on bass, Lily White on sax, vocals and keys, and newest member Dave
Phelps on guitar and vocals.
The set will highlight new material Dan has written,
including "Takin' It Back (Give 'Em What You Got)" which challenges
the message of violence toward gay men advocated in the lyrics of
reggae performer Beenie Man. The set will also include a few familiar
favorites from Dan's first CD, Dan Manjovi.
Since the November 2005 release of Manjovi's solo
CD, Dan Manjovi, Manjovi has been highly visible. Industry buzz
about the CD won Dan a highly coveted slot at the 2006 Tribeca Film
Festival's ASCAP Music Lounge where he appeared along with John
Mayer, Nellie McKay, and Elvis Costello at The Canal Room. In June
2006 Dan and his band played a thrilling concert to a packed house
at New York's premiere music spot The Cutting Room. The summer of
2006 found Manjovi playing a host of outdoor festival shows including
a memorable week of daytime solo piano concerts at New York's Byrant
Park. In the fall of 2006 Dan appeared in the New York premier of
The End, a new musical by George Furth (Company, Merrily We Roll
Along) and Doug Katsaros (Alter Boyz). In November of 2006, Dan
backed singers Donna Summer and Grace Hightower De Niro at a special
benefit show at The Beacon Theater.
