CABARET NEWS - NEW YORK CITY

NICOLE HENRY AT IRIDIUM JANUARY 19TH
On Friday, January 19, 2007, award-winning vocalist Nicole Henry will perform at IRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB (1650 Broadway, NYC - 212-582-2121 - http://www.iridiumjazzclub.com/ ) at 6:30 pm presenting songs from her upcoming CD release "Almost Like Being in Love." A most beautiful songstress, Nicole carries the torch as the new, young female voice broadening the scope of traditional jazz songs, infusing soul, and injecting charisma, passion and heartfelt 'joie de vivre.' Nicole will be joined by a trio.

Her debut CD release "The Nearness of You" earned high reviews from Billboard, Jazz Times, Cadence Magazine, All About Jazz, L.A. Jazz Scene, jazzreview.com and many more. They lauded Nicole as a beautiful, distinctive, potent vocal thespian who could deliver a power ballad like Whitney, Patti and Diana, and who could swing with controlled abandon, interpreting a song, making it her own. Subsequently, her second CD release, Teach Me Tonight released in Asia, got voted "Best Vocal Jazz Album of 2005" in Japan. Now with this third release, Nicole gives international listeners even more artistic spirit to embrace. She soulfully swings, powerfully soars and touches the core of her listeners. This impeccably produced and arranged studio CD adds light for Nicole to shine brighter, and reach even more fans.

The CD features 11 jazz standards including the not-so-recorded "I Can't Be Bothered Now" (Gershwin), "I Like the Likes of You" (V. Duke), "What'll I Do" (Berlin), a Betty Carter gem, "Make It Last" (B. Haymes) and "I'm Gonna Lock My Heart and Throw Away the Key (Eaton/Shand). Other well-known favorites include Mancini's "Moon River," another Haymes (and Brandt) "That's All" and the familiar "Waters of March" by Jobim. The twelfth and only non-standard track is the memorable "I Found You" by New York's singer/songwriter KJ Denhert, which is nestled perfectly within the CD, adding to its overall accessibility to new, as well as seasoned jazz listeners.

Call the club for cover/minimum charges.
