OSCAR BROWN JR. TRIBUTE & CD RELEASE AT THE JAZZ BAKERY
San Francisco jazz and cabaret performer Linda Kosut brings her show
and CD Release, "Long As You're Living," a joyous and moving tribute
to the late Oscar Brown Jr., to Los Angeles' renowned JAZZ BAKERY (3233
Helms Avenue, Culver City, CA - 310-271-9039 - http://www.jazzbakery.com/
) for one night only, Tuesday, September 25th with shows at at 8:00
& 9:30 pm. Linda will be backed by musical director, pianist & trombonist
Max Perkoff and Los Angeles-based musicians Tim Emmons on bass and Jack
Le Compte on percussion.
Kosut has been performing this show in the San Francisco
Bay Area and New York. She now brings it to Los Angeles and a club
where Brown himself played many times. According to Ruth Price, owner
of The Jazz Bakery. Oscar sang at the club at least twice a year for
many years and every show was different and fresh. He would pick a
theme and sing and talk about that, whether it was his Chicago roots
or aging or anything else. It was always brilliant and always touching.
"Long As You're Living," is a tribute to Brown and a launch for her
CD of many of his songs. Brown was an inspirational and influential
composer and playwright who died in 2005 at the age of 78.
The CD Release Tour continues to Chicago, Oscar's hometown,
New York and then back home to San Francisco's Empire Plush Room
