DC ANDERSON & FRIENDS IN CONCERT IN CHICAGO DECEMBER 10th
D.C.
Anderson, Claudia Anderson and Hope Nunnery with Steve Tarshis will
perform in Concert on Monday, December 10th at 7:30 pm at THE THEATRE
BUILDING CHICAGO (1225 West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL - http://www.theatrebuildingchicago.org/).
The show will include D.C. Anderson's theatrical cabaret songs, Claudia
Anderson's Celtic story songs, and Hope Nunnery and Steve Tarshis' rousing
'Baptist by way of the juke joint' tunes. This combination will comprise
what may be the most eclectic concert experience of the season!
D.C. Anderson ('Andre' in Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE
PHANTOM OF THE OPERA at the Cadillac Palace Theater in Chicago through
January 6th) has been nominated for 6 MAC (Manhattan Association of
Cabarets and Clubs) Awards for 'Outstanding Song', 'Best Recording'
and 'Best Male Artist'. In 2002, he was given the Back Stage BISTRO
Award as 'Outstanding Singer/Songwriter'. His acting credits include
National Tours of THE LIFE AND ADVENTURES OF NICHOLAS NICKLEBY, PHANTOM
OF THE OPERA and MARTIN GUERRE, stints with the Steppenwolf Theater
Company (THE BALLAD OF LITTLE JO), the Guthrie Theater and Evanston's
Northlight Theater. At the Theatre Building, he will be performing
songs from his 2006 CD release 'I Am Still' as well as premiering
new songs from his upcoming February 2008 CD release 'Our Story'.
Claudia
Anderson performed this past Spring at the Theater Building in a delightful
evening of singing, strumming and Celtic drumming, with Chicago musicians
Kat Eggleston, Jim Conway and Mike Austin. Past performances have
included singing with DC in cabaret venues including Davenports in
Chicago, Don't Tell Mama in New York and Gardenia and The Cinegrill
in Los Angeles. In addition to her performing, Claudia is on the faculty
of The Theatre School, where she teaches voice and speech and coaches
for the Showcase and Playworks productions at the Reskin Theatre.
Recent professional credits include voice and dialect coaching at
Next Theatre Company, Raven Theatre and the Court Theatre.
Hope
Nunnery is a Singer/Songwriter in the Americana/Roots genre. Her songwriting
and CD 'Wilderness Lounge' have received recognition from NewSong
Mountain Stage Awards and the Independent Music Awards committees.
Born in the woods of South Carolina, Hope Nunnery experienced gospel
music from an early age. As a little girl, she listened in awe to
Southern Baptist Church music, and was fascinated by the genre's melodic,
melancholy undertones. She has kept this influence tight and close
to her heart, adding blues, country, old time and bluegrass to create
a cornucopia of pure American roots music.
Steve Tarshis has a B.A. in Composition from the Berklee
College of Music. Numerous studio and live performances with artists
ranging from Bo Diddley to the Joffery Ballet including John Sebastian,
Chico Hamilton, Carl Wilson, Robert Lamm, Mamas and the Papas, Little
Anthony and the Imperials, Nora York, Bucktooth Johnson. Steve is
the author of over fifteen books published by Music Sales Inc. and
Hal Leonard. Titles include The Complete Rock Guitarist, Original
Hendrix, Teach Yourself Rock Theory, and Teach Yourself Lead Guitar.
