SUZANNE PETRI CELEBRATES THE RELEASE OF "DAS GRAND TOUR"
2006 Outstanding Cabaret Artist, After Dark Award Winner Suzanne Petri follows her Live CD "A Marvelous Party!" with her debut studio CD "Das Grand Tour." The official release party is Friday, May 25th at DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830 - http://www.davenportspianobar.com/ ). This CD is the culmination of several years of work with her musical director Bob Moreen and engineer Bud Johnson of Red Brick Recording plus many talented musicians and artists who helped make this project become a reality.

The CD contains original songs by Luke Nelson, Chad Willetts, David Finkle and Bill Weeden as well as many of Suzanne's special favorites by Kurt Weill, Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Noel Coward and Marlene Dietrich. The title takes its cue from the 'grand tour' of music on the CD and the song 'Das Chicago Song,' which has become Suzanne's signature song. Musicians include Chicago legend of the piano and accordion, Joe Vito, sax and bass clarinet great Dez Desormeaux, Jim Cox on bass, one of Chicago's busiest and best, musician/composer Chad Willetts and long time friend, composer/pianist/singer Lonie Walker and members of her band: bassist Joe Thomas and percussionist Luiz Ewerling. These fine musicians and wonderful collaborators are scheduled to appear at the DAVENPORT'S CD Release Celebration.

Suzanne Petri has brought her marvelous voice, vivacious performance style and wry sophistication to dozens of stages as an actor, singer and director. She has worked at such theatres as the Goodman, Steppenwolf, Next Theatre, Eclipse, Apple Tree and American Theater Company where she is an ensemble member, appearing as Aunt Eller in the Jeff Award Recommended 'Oklahoma!' Mrs. Peachum in "The Threepenny Opera," "Kid-Simple" and "Lie Of The Mind." In 2006 she was honored to appear at the New York Cabaret Convention Jazz at Lincoln Center as well as The Chicago Cabaret Convention at Park West Theater presented by Donald Smith of the Mabel Mercer Foundation.

A passionate advocate of cabaret, Suzanne is the president and a founding member of the CCP (Chicago Cabaret Professionals - http://www.chicagocabaret.org/ ) She was a 2000 Cabaret Symposium fellow at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center. She has played cabarets from Maxim's Nancy Goldberg International Center, the Chicago Cultural Center to the University Club of Chicago, The Chicago Humanities Festival, The Underground Wonder Bar, Cyrano's Caf' Simone to the late great Toulouse on the Park. She and her musical director, the multi talented Bob Moreen are pleased to present this CD and continue with many upcoming collaborations.
