JEFF MATSON AWARD RECIPIENTS NAMED FOR 2007
The JEFF MATSON AWARD was created to honor the memory of songwriter/writer/director/producer/graphic
designer Jeff Matson, who passed away suddenly on April 2, 2005 from
a rare blood disorder. His talents were many, but his greatest talent
was that of inspiring and encouraging other performers towards perfection
in their craft. In 2005 the first award was presented to D.C. Anderson,
and last year's recipients were Trudi Mann and Hector Coris.
This year, at the 17th BIRTHDAY OF CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE, to be held
on July 6th at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440

) we will be presenting the 2007 JEFF MATSON AWARD to two very worthy
recipients. The two chosen this year are truly deserving of this recognition.
Each of them have been an inspiration, a resource and a good friend
to cabaret performers. This year's recipients are Collette Black (booking
manager UPSTAIRS at ROSE'S TURN) and Joe Regan, Jr. (best friend a cabaret
performer could have).
In addition, CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE will be announcing
the recipient of our first DOTTIE BURMAN award, to be given to a deserving
cabaret songwriter. More on this to come.
Already confirmed to appear in the show:
Erie PA based vocalist ALICE FRAZIER, who was booked
for last year but had to cancel at the last minute because of a family
emergency.
Vocalist/actor "BBBAD" BRUCE CLOUGH, who hails from
Philadelphia and a really exciting newcomer to NYC cabaret.
LENNIE WATTS, "Mr. NY Cabaret" who books THE METROPOLITAN
ROOM and will lead off the night's entertainment.
FRANCESCA AMARI, who is "Miss Cabaret" of Western Michigan
- and lives in Grand Rapids, my old college town! She is flying out
just to be in the show!
JAY ROGERS, award-winning musical comedy great, one
of the stars of George Winter's fabulous "Monday in the Dark With
George" revue, "Whoop-de-doo" "When Pigs Fly" and Keith Thompson's
"Kooky Tunes."
MICHAEL BRILL, amazing and wild stand-up comedy favorite
and 2007 MAC AWARD nominee and host of DON'T TELL MAMA'S Gay & Lesbian
Comedy Fest shows.
