GEORGE EVANS AT MONTREAL'S NEW HOT-SPOT OCTOBER 19th
Canadian jazz vocalist George Evans makes a welcome return to the Montreal club scene in a rare appearance Friday, October 19th at DIESE ONZE (4115-A St Denis, Montreal, QC - 514-223-3543 - http://www.dieseonze.com/ ), the newest hot-spot in the hip and swinging Plateau entertainment district. A multi-award-nominated jazz artist, Evans has six albums to his credit, including "Bewitched," his critically-praised 2006 release.

Touring in support of "Bewitched" did not include a stop in Montreal, but with the addition of DIESE ONZE to the city's active club scene, Evans believes he'll be able to appear back home in Montreal with greater frequency.

Evans brings with him from Toronto, as his very special guest, an artist new to the Montreal scene. Guitarist Lee Wallace has been making a name for himself these past seasons as a musician of considerable skill and integrity. With graceful, fluid lines and a remarkable ability to arrange on the fly, Wallace distinguishes himself as a true musical descendent of his famous father, renowned Canadian bassist Steve Wallace. Lee makes his Montreal jazz debut on this unusual engagement, playing in trio with two of the city's stalwart young lions, Morgan Moore on bass, and the popular Jim Doxas on drums.

George first thrilled Toronto jazz audiences in 1999 when he launched his second album "I'm All Smiles" at the Top o' the Senator. He went on to appear there with regularity through the launch of his fifth album "Movie Songs' in 2005. Over the years George became familiar to audiences at home through frequent appearances on TVO, Bravo, and CoolTV, and through his many sessions and concerts for the CBC. George Evans was the founding member of The Three Crooners, and in 2004 he selected, sequenced, and produced the successful "Here Come The Boys: a Canadian Crooner Collection" for Maximum Jazz and Universal Music Canada.

Since surfacing in Montreal in the early-1990s, George Evans has become one of the foremost interpreters of jazz and standards on the Canadian jazz vocal scene. Nominated National Jazz Awards Vocalist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Ontario Independent Music Awards Jazz Artist of the Year, Evans has been celebrated diversely as "a ballad's best friend" by All-Canadian Jazz Festival, and "an agile voice and always swinging" by the National Post. George tours actively across Canada, and has been praised for lively, polished performances in major clubs in cities such as Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. He has recorded a current total of six projects as a leader, and his current album, "Bewitched" can be heard on all the major jazz outlets.
