THE ALL NIGHT STRUT! OPENS AT RIVERSIDE THEATRE WORKS
RIVERSIDE THEATRE WORKS (45 Fairmount Ave, Hyde Park, MA - 617-361-5269
- http://www.rtwboston.org/
) presents its 2006-2007 Cabaret production of The All Night Strut!.
Artistic Director, Tara Brooke Watkins, resident of Quincy, MA directs
and produces this production while Boston favorite Markus Hauck music
directs. This story comes to life March 3rd at 8:00 pm and runs the
next two Saturday nights during Boston's Cabaret month, March 10th and
17th. All shows begin at 8:00 pm.
The production of The All Night Strut! features actors
from around the Boston area, including Boston Arts Academy's Allyssa
Jones, Boston Conservatory's Kimberly Suskind, Davron Monroe and Evan
O'Brien. These four talented actors sing in 4-part harmony throughout
the show while shining separately in various solos.
Weaving favorite songs like "Chattanooga Choo Choo,"
"Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition," and "Ain't Misbehavin'"
this revue of 30s & 40s songs tells the story of an era when we spoke
through music and used it to get through wartime. Originally conceived,
choreographed, and directed by Boston native Fran Charnas, RTW's production
highlights the classic white and black silhouettes with various splashes
of color to stay true to the historical technicolor movement of this
time period.
From coast to coast, in dance clubs, Broadway shows,
and major motion pictures, folks young and old are rediscovering the
Lindy Hop, the Shag and the Tango. Yes, Swing's the Thing! And nowhere
more than in this classy, sassy musical celebration of the 1930s and
'40s. From the funky jive of Harlem to the sophisticated elegance
of El Morocco and the romance of the Stage Door Canteen, this is an
evening filled with jazz, blues, bebop and classic song standards
that thrill the heart, tickle the funny bone and raise the rafters.
Tickets are $22.
