THE WINTER SEASON OF BROADWAY/CABARET AT BIRDLAND ANNOUNCED
Jim Caruso and TheaterMania.com are proud to announce "The Winter Season" of concerts featuring top Broadway performers and songwriters at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080 - http://www.birdlandjazz.com/ ). The season will include Victoria Shaw (November 14th), Charles Busch & Julie Halston (November 28th), Susan Egan (December 5th), Natalie Douglas (December 12th), Christine Ebersole & Billy Stritch (December 20th), Mylinda Hull (January 2nd), Ann Harada, Leah Hocking & Michele Pawk (January 9th), and Darius DeHaas (January 30th). All shows start at 7:00 pm. The cover charges range from $25 - $40, plus a $10 food/drink minimum. Jim Caruso's Cast Party, the Broadway open-mic extravaganza, will follow each Monday night concert. A full dinner menu is available at Birdland until 1:00 am.

November 14th - Under the Covers With Victoria Shaw - $25

Victoria, along with composers Gary Burr and Bob DiPiero celebrate Country Music week in NYC!!! Come hear all your favorite songs (and the stories behind them) performed by the original writers of such hits as "How Far" (Martina McBride), "American Made" (Oakridge Boys), "To Be Loved By You" (Wynonna), "The River" (Garth Brooks), "Think About Elvis" (Patty Loveless) -- just to name a few! November 28th - Charles Busch and Julie Halston $30

Charles Busch and his long time stage buddy Julie Halston will perform songs, sketches and reminisce about their twenty-year friendship and the creation of the long running cult play Vampire Lesbians of Sodom. Busch, (Tony-nominated author of The Tale of the Allergist's Wife and the star of the film "Die Mommie Die") and Julie Halston (Gypsy, Twentieth Century, Bitsy Von Muffling on "Sex and the City" and currently in Hairspray) starred together in the original Off-Broadway productions of Busch's plays Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, The Lady in Question, Red Scare on Sunset and You Should Be So Lucky. Last March the duo starred in a sold-out benefit for the Actors Fund at the Music Box Theatre called Charles Busch and Julie Halston on Broadway. December 5th - Susan Egan $25

Joined by her musical director, Christopher McGovern, Broadway leading lady Susan Egan will sing songs from her past shows, tunes from her latest CD, "Coffee House," and showcase material by New York's hippest young writers. Critics have called Egan's voice "a knockout," "the perfect Broadway instrument," and "electrifying," and have raved that her concerts are "a seamless weaving of the classic and the modern" and "an all night conversation with your best friend." http://www.susanegan.com

December 12th - Natalie Douglas $25

Six-time MAC award winner Natalie Douglas returns to Birdland with an all-new show! Fresh from her fall engagements at the Kennedy Center's Open Arts Festival and the Mabel Mercer Foundation's Cabaret Convention at Jazz at Lincoln Center, this 2005 Outstanding Female Vocalist, will sing standards and contemporary material, backed by longtime musical director/arranger and Avenue Q conductor, Mark Hartman. http://www.nataliedouglas.com

Tuesday, December 20th - Christmas with Christine Ebersole & Billy Stritch - $40

The Tony Award-winning star of Broadway's 42nd Street and the WB's "Related" returns to Birdland for her fourth engagement, armed with a dazzling concoction of Broadway tunes, standards, holiday songs and her wry take on life. January 2th - Mylinda Hull - $25

Currently starring as Nickie in Broadway's Sweet Charity, Mylinda Hull and Her Lucky Seven swing into Birdland just in time to break all their New Year's Resolutions! January 9th - Harada, Hocking & Pawk in "Louder ... Faster ... Funnier" $35

Hold on to your hats as belting Broadway divas Ann Harada (Avenue Q), Leah Hocking (All Shook Up, Hairspray) and Tony Award Winner Michele Pawk (Hollywood Arms, Mamma Mia) take the stage and rattle the rafters in an evening of song, stories, and unbridled mayhem. Legit sopranos need not apply.

January 30th - Darius DeHaas - $25

The New York Times called Darius DeHaas "an astonishing vocal acrobat." This very special concert will be a culmination of material from Darius' highly acclaimed Stevie Wonder and Billy Strayhorn Lincoln Center concerts, along with some brand new original songs. Most recently, he has been touring as special guest of Vanessa Williams in her national concert tour.
