CABARET NEWS - NEW YORK CITY

DANNY'S SKYLIGHT ROOM ANNOUNCES CLOSING DECEMBER 31ST
The following announcement was received from Donal Schaffer, Booking Manager:

"After a long and successful run, Danny's management has announced the closing of DANNY'S SKYLIGHT ROOM (346 West 46th Street, NYC - 1-212-265-8133 - http://www.dannysgrandseapalace.com/ ). The Skylight Room cabaret will close after the gala annual New Year's Eve party on December 31, 2006. The Restaurant will remain open through January 6, 2007. All involved at the club thank the countless patrons who have enjoyed the "Bangkok to Broadway" cuisine, and the fun-filled piano bar with "the man with the million songs", Joe Regan, and the multi-award-winning Jerry Scott.

"The Skylight Room will forever be indebted to Blossom Dearie (she has been performing for large to sold-out audiences two nights per week for well over eight years!). We have been entertained by some of the best who excel at the pop/jazz songbook Ê artists such as Dakota Staton (a successful three-year run!), Barbara Brussell, Richard Rodney Bennett, KT Sullivan, Mark Nadler, Maude Maggart, Eric Comstock, Barbara Fasano, Annie Ross, Phillip Officer, Wesla Whitfield, Claiborne Cary, John Wallowitch, Dane Vannatter, Jon Peterson as George M. Cohan, Nancy McGraw, Marcus Simeone, Joyce Breach, Barbara Lea, Daryl Sherman, Judy Kreston and David Lahm, Marianne Challis, Anna Bergman, Marlene Ver Planck, B.J. Ward, Brett Somers, Micheline Van Houtem, Jane Scheckter, Yvonne Constant, and so many more talented individuals.

"Open since 1985, well over 15,000 shows (16 per week) have been done. To quote from a recent article by Joe Lang of the New Jersey Jazz Society, 'Danny's is a room that consistently provides opportunities for people who dig a blending of jazz and the Great American Songbook without the need on the part of the attendee to take out a second mortgage or starve their pets in order to catch a show.'

"From now through December 31, stop in a time or two; the quality entertainment continues.

"Yes, it has been a wonderful, rewarding run. Hoping to recreate the showroom sometime in Manhattan after the first of this coming year. On behalf of Lola del Rivero, myself, and the entire staff, we thank you very much for your loyalty and your patronage.

"Donald Schaffer
Booking Manager"
