BROADWAY AT THE CENTER IN CONCERT SERIES ANNOUNCED
THE COMMUNITY CENTER (208 West 13th Street, NYC - 212-620-7310 -
http://www.gaycenter.org/
) launches new In Concert series with Sherie Rene Scott on Monday,
December 4th. Additional In Concert shows will feature Douglas Sills,
Todd Murray & Sally Wilfert on January 29th 2007 and Michael Rupert
& Allison Fraser, March 19, 2007. All three concerts take place at
The Center. Tickets are $20, $35, $75 and $150 - with a cocktail reception
for the high-tier prices. Discount subscriptions are also available.
The series launches with one of Broadway's hottest
leading ladies, Sherie Rene Scott on Monday, December 4th at 7:00
pm. Tony Award-nominee Sherie Rene Scott is best known for her starring
roles in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, AIDA and The Last Five Years,
and as a recording artist on Sh-K-Boom Records. In the midst of
what she describes as a "surprisingly fragile state for such a robust
young woman," Sherie Rene Scott will sing, chat and prove to herself
and the audience that we're not in Kansas anymore.
This will be followed by a trio of best friends -
Douglas Sills (Little Shop of Horrors, Tony nominee for The Scarlet
Pimpernel), veteran crooner Todd Murray and wildly talented Sally
Wilfert (Broadway's Tom Sawyer and Assassins) - on Monday, January
29, 2007.
A Falsettos reunion of sorts featuring Broadway favorites
Michael Rupert and Alison Fraser takes place on Monday, March 19,
2007. Tony Award-winner Michael Rupert and Tony Award-nominee Alison
Fraser return to their roots revisiting songs from Falsettos as
well as gems by William Finn cut from the show. They will also perform
funny early drafts of finished songs, as well as songs by other
emerging voices in contemporary musical theatre.
In Concert is produced by Jayson Raitt and Daniel
Whitman. Established in 1983, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender
Community Center is the largest LGBT community center organization
on the East Coast. More than 6,000 people visit the Center weekly.
Recent Broadway-related programs include Queer Songbook
featuring Donna McKechnie and Sandy Duncan, and Broadway Backwards,
a one-night concert featuring gender-reversed songs performed by
eighteen Broadway stars including Charles Busch, Andrea McArdle,
Michael McElroy, Cheyenne Jackson, Matt Cavenaugh and Pamela Myers.
