BENEFIT CONCERT FEATURES BROADWAY CABARET STARS ON OCTOBER 16th

The Broadway and Cabaret communities will come together in a celebrity benefit concert "HeartSong: The Concert for New Orleans" for victims of Hurricane Katrina at THE PETER NORTON SYMPHONY SPACE (Broadway at 95th Street - Tkts: 212-864-5400), on Sunday, October 16th at 7:00 pm.

The specific charities chosen are the Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans, the HeartSong Performing Artists Fund and The Andy Kruzich / HeartSong Animal Welfare Fund of The Greater New Orleans Foundation. Performers headlining the concert include: Karen Akers, Brent Barrett, Bryan Batt, Judy Blazer, Charles Busch, Ann Hampton Callaway, Liz Callaway, Jim Caruso, Rick Crom, Boyd Gaines, Rita Gardner, Julie Gold, Kitty Carlisle Hart, Steve Hayes, Christopher Jackson, Rick Jensen, Judy Kaye, Lina Koutrakos, Steven Lutvak, Heather Mac Rae, Andrea Marcovicci, Karen Mason, Laurel Mass, Sally Mayes, Andrea McArdle, Sharon McNight, Donna Murphy, Mark Nadler, Marni Nixon, Joyce Randolph, Lee Roy Reams, Steve Ross, Janis Siegel, Marilyn Sokol, Brett Somers, KT Sullivan, Julie Wilson and surprise guests! Alex Rybeck will serve as Music Coordinator.

The event is presented by Wendy Lane Bailey & Erv Raible and The Cabaret Conference at Yale University in association with Jacquee Carvin, Patrick Lee, Barbara Motley, Lois & Richard Nicotra, Lorenzo's Cabaret at The Hilton Garden Inn, SI, NY and Le Chat Noir Cabaret, New Orleans.

The Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans HeartSong Performing Artists Fund has been created to financially assist professionals in the New Orleans entertainment industry; performers whose lives are at a complete stand-still in the wake of Hurricane KatrinaÍs devastation. 80% of the ticket proceeds will be paid into this special, dedicated fund being set up by the Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans. The CAC, with a $2 million annual operating budget, is a nationally respected 501(c)3 not-for-profit multidisciplinary arts organization housed in its own historical building in the Warehouse/Arts District of Downtown New Orleans. Over its 30 years in existence, the CAC has handled grants, produced works, housed collections and performances for the drama, musical theater, dance, jazz, new classical music and visual arts community of New Orleans, as well as presenting works by Regional and National artists in all these genres

The Andy Kruzich / HeartSong Animal Welfare Fund of the Greater New Orleans Foundation will aid organizations that are currently helping with the rescue and housing of abandoned pets. The Andy Kruzich Fund is an endowed fund set up by a New Orleans theater producer to honor his partner who loved animals. The Greater New Orleans Foundation, a 501(c)3 pubic charity, is the largest and most respected trustee organization for various endowed arts, humanity, and medical funds originated in New Orleans. 20% of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the fund for re-granted to qualifying animal protection and care organizations that are helping New Orleans animal victims.

Awarding of funds, once they are in the possession of the two primary not-for-profit trustees, the CAC and GNOF, will be overseen by a small committee of volunteer producers, theater owners, and managers who work within the New Orleans theater community. Only individuals will be eligible for artistÍs proceeds. All financial records will be overseen within the guidelines of the trustee organizations to protect the integrity of the funds.

The Cabaret Conference At Yale University (Cabaret Conference, Inc.), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit arts organization, was founded in 2003, and is being developed in conjunction with the Yale School of Drama/Yale Repertory Theater. This yearÍs conference will be held July 28 Æ August 6, 2006 on the Yale University campus, New Haven, Connecticut.
