NEW ORLEANS PERFORMERS ADDED TO OCTOBER 16 HEARTSONG BENEFIT
Representing the New Orleans musical theatre scene on stage at the
HeartSong Benefit on Sunday, October 16th at THE PETER NORTON SYMPHONY
SPACE (Broadway at 95th Street - 212-864-1414) will be Ricky Graham
and Harry Mayronne (doubling as Director and Musical Director respectively
for the NOLA segment); swing jazz vocalist, Banu Gibson; blues/theatre
diva, Cynthia Owen; and New Orleans premier cabaret male singer, Chris
Wecklein. New Orleans co-producers are Jacquee Carvin, Patrick Lee
and Barbara Motley.
The NOLA segment of the program will be specially highlighted and
will feature both songs about New Orleans written by composers like
Hoagy Carmichael, and songs written and premiered in New Orleans (in
this case by Graham and Mayronne) in their popular shows "The Black
and White Blues," and "At the Club Toot Sweet on Bourbon Street."
The evening will also feature footage excerpted from a new video "The
Quarter by Carriage" created by 4 Tell Films New Orleans and completed
just three weeks prior to Hurricane Katrina.
