) is very pleased to welcome Tony nominee, Sharon McNight, who will
perform her acclaimed one-woman show, Betty, Betty, Bette, for 10
performances only, October 13th through 29th, Thursdays through Saturdays
at 9:30 pm. There is also a special matinee performance on Sunday,
October 23rd at 5:00 pm.
Betty, Betty, Bette premiered earlier this year at the San Francisco's
The Plush Room, garnering rave reviews and a sold out run. In the
piece, Sharon portrays three of the world's most famous Betty's: Bette
Davis, Betty Grable and Betty Hutton. The music runs the gamut from
Davis's I've Written a Letter to Daddy, to Grable's You're My Little
Pin-Up Girl, and Hutton's classic, I Wake up in the Morning Feeling
Fine. Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be an evening of music
and humor that only Sharon can pull off.
Sharon McNight made her Broadway debut in 1989 in Starmites, creating
the role of Diva. She received a Tony Award nomination as Best Leading
Actress in a Musical for her performance, and is the recipient of
the coveted Theatre World Award for Outstanding Broadway Debut, which
was presented to her by Carol Channing.
Sharon has released six solo CDs, the most recent
of which are: Offensive Too, Volume Two which is the second CD of
Songs To Offend Almost Everyone, a throwback to the party records
of the 50s. In contrast is The Sophie Tucker Songbook, which contains
the music of her one-woman show based the show business legend,
which debuted at New York's Rainbow & Stars.
Another of Sharon's solo pieces, Red Hot Mama, was
workshopped at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and Lucille
Lortel's White Barn Theatre, and finished a successful three-month
run Off-Broadway at The York Theatre.
The singer/comedienne's regional credits include
Amanda McBroom's Heartbeats at the Pasadena Playhouse, and an award-winning
Dolly in Hello Dolly at the Peninsula Civic Light Opera. Sharon
was Sister Hubert in Nunsense in Los Angeles and San Francisco,
where she received the Bay Area Critics Circle Award for Best Performance
in a Musical. She is a master teacher on the faculty of the Yale
Cabaret Symposium.
Sharon is the recipient of six San Francisco Cabaret
Gold awards, three Cable Car Awards, a MAC award, a Bistro award,
and received a Nightlife Award from New York's critics for her musical
comedy show, Ladies Compose Yourselves!
There is a $20 cover and a 2-drink minimum.
