CABARET NEWS - NEW YORK CITY

HOLLAND/MACK NUMBER TWOS SHOW AT THE ENCORE THROUGH OCTOBER 15th
Michael Holland and Karen Mack are appearing at THE ENCORE (266 West 47th Street, NYC - 212-221-3960 - http://www.theencorenyc.com/ ) in a special limited return engagement of the newest addition to their long-running, retro-pop series "Gashole". This one's called "Gashole: Number Twos", and it showcases 50 years of Billboard pop chart hits that fizzled out at #2 without ever making it to #1. Only three performances remain in this run - Saturdays, October 1st, 8th & 15th. all shows at 8:00 pm.

Ms. Mack & Mr. Holland have been performing in tandem for the past five years, amassing a list of awards and a loyal fan base with a mix of harmony and humor that makes them equally at home in the town's music rooms as in campier club and theatrical venues. They've run a standing Saturday night show in NYC for the past two years. Other notable appearances include: a tribute to composer Stephen Schwartz, featuring Ben Vereen; their own live variety/talk show with guests including Rue McLanahan from "The Golden Girls", Broadway divas Andrea McArdle and Felicia Finley, and TV celebrity Tina Louise; and the nationally broadcast "Wall to Wall" Tribute to Joni Mitchell live from Symphony Space.

There is a $15 cover, $12 food/drink minimum.
$10 cover for members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.

Audiences and critics agree that the evening's biggest surprises come from the blending of monster hits you can't believe missed #1 with longshot tunes you can't believe made it past #101, much less to #2. Whatever your musical poison**, expect the best of what's made this acoustic vocal duo a tried and true club favorite - deranged medleys, soaring harmonies, comic mayhem, and their own lethal signature drinks for those who don't really care so much about music (and we know you're out there.)

While an emphasis in their "Gashole" series has always been their love of the best (and worst) of 70s/80s pop, both performers are nationally recognized for their original songwriting and performance, most recently in Michael Holland's win as 2004's OutMusic's Outstanding Songwriter of the Year.
