AMERICAN SONG FESTIVAL CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY WITH MOVE

) announced yesterday that it will celebrate its 20th anniversary
by moving its annual week-long festival of American popular song,
the Cabaret Convention, to ROSE HALL at Time Warner Center (Columbus
Circle, Broadway at 60th Street, NYC - CenterCharge: 212-721-6500

), after a 15-year residence at THE TOWN HALL. Cabaret Convention
2005 will feature over 100 performers in seven unique concerts from
October 1th through 23rd.
The foundation will also present an array of awards during the concert
series. On Tuesday, October 18th, cabaret star Barbara Carroll will
receive the first-ever "Mabel," the new award for excellence in American
song. On Wednesday, October 19th, songwriter David Friedman will be
awarded the Bart Howard Encouragement Award, a $1,000 grant to an
upcoming performer or songwriter. The Julie Wilson Cabaret Performance
Award and the Dick Gallagher Musical Director Award will also be awarded
in surprise presentations on Thursday, the 20th and Friday, the 21st
respectively.
Among the week's artists are: Klea Blackhurst, Jeff Harnar, Andrea
Marcovicci, Karen Mason, Marilyn Maye, Steve Ross, KT Sullivan and
Margaret Whiting.
