CABARET NEWS - NEW YORK CITY

Lucille Carr-Kaffashan Makes Her Helen's Debut
2005 MAC/Hanson Award winner Lucille Carr-Kaffashan was one of the 55,000 ecstatic fans who cheered for The Beatles during their unprecedented outdoor concert at Shea Stadium on August 15, 1965. To celebrate over 40 years of her own personal Beatlemania, Lucille brings her new cabaret show to HELEN'S RESTAURANT, CABARET & PIANO LOUNGE (169 Eighth Avenue, NYC - 212-206-0609 - http://www.helensnyc.com/ ) in November. Along with musical director and accompanist, David Brunetti, and guitarist Bob Einfrank, Lucille will present four performances of In My Life, A Celebration of Beatles Music, on Wednesday, November 9th, Saturday, November 12th, and Thursday, November 17th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, November 20th at 2:00 pm. In My Life, A Celebration of Beatles Music will feature a selection of songs released by the Fab Four during the eight years that they recorded together, from 1962 to 1970. During that time, Lennon & McCartney and George Harrison wrote over 200 songs that spoke of love and friendship, of longing and redemption, of the search for peace and enlightenment, and of their memories about the lives of ordinary people. Lucille's program will reflect the breadth of both song subjects and musical styles that characterizes the phenomenon that was The Beatles. There is a $15 music charge plus a $15 food/drink minimum at each performance. $10 cover for members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.

Lucille's last cabaret outing was the critically acclaimed show Both Sides Now. Lucille enjoyed successful runs of Both Sides Now at Mama Rose's and The Encore in NYC and at Odette's in New Hope, Pennsylvania, and most recently played to a sold-out audience at The Meadows in New Jersey.

Born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island, Lucille grew up listening to the stories woven by folk music, Italian arias, musical theater songs, and the works of singer-songwriters such as The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, and James Taylor. While her early vocal training was primarily classical, with a focus on Italian and French arias and art songs, Lucille's cabaret work celebrates the Great American Songbook - both classic and contemporary. Drawn to expressive voices, beautiful melodies, and heartfelt lyrics, Lucille has found her artistic home on the cabaret stage.

Lucille performed for a number of years in the regional productions of the New Jersey-based Entertainers Theater before developing her first cabaret act. Since 1999, she has presented five different shows at clubs in New York City, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, including Don't Tell Mama, Mama Rose's, The Encore, The Meadows, and Odette's. She has also been a featured performer in a number of special cabaret productions, including the Odette's 15th Anniversary Show, the Annual TeddyCare Show at the West Bank Cafe in NYC, the NYC Nightlife Awards show, and most recently, Cabaret Hotline Online's 15th Anniversary Show in July 2005.
