PAUL WILLIAMS RETURNS TO FEINSTEIN'S

WITH SPECIAL GUEST CAROL WELSMAN

FEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 1-212-339-4095 - http://www.feinsteinsattheregency.com/ ) will present the return engagement of renowned songwriter Paul Williams from May 4th through 15th. His new show "Nice To Be Around" features special guest Carol Welsman, the acclaimed Canadian jazz singer and pianist. In addition to Paul's classic songs written in collaboration with John Williams, Melissa Manchester, Johnny Mandel, Ivan Lins and Kenny Rankin, the show will feature "Raising Helen," the title song to the new Kate Hudson film that Williams co-wrote with Carole King. The show will play the following schedule: Tuesday through Saturday at 8:30 pm with late shows on Friday and Saturday at 11:00 pm. All shows have a $60 cover and $30 minimum.

Paul Williams is an Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe winning songwriter who is recognized as one of America's most exceptional and prolific lyricists and composers. Over the years, he has been lauded and awarded by audiences and his peers alike, as a songwriter as well as a singer, an actor, and a humanitarian. A Hall Of Fame Songwriter, Williams has received nine nominations from the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, six nominations from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. He has been recognized by both ASCAP and BMI for the success of his songs. Mr. Williams has penned such hits as "We've Only Just Begun," "The Rainbow Connection," "Rainy Days and Mondays," "Let Me Be The One," "You and Me Against the World" and the Oscar winning "Evergreen" (from the Streisand/Kristofferson remake of A Star is Born).

Williams has also received Academy Award nominations for his work on music from the films Cinderella Liberty, Phantom of the Paradise, The Muppet Movie and Bugsy Malone. Among his other movie credits musically are Rocky IV, The Secret of Nimh, The Muppet Christmas Carol, and Ishtar. In 2002, he penned lyrics for the blockbuster hit The Sum of All Fears and for the season finale of "Ally McBeal," Williams offered the moving "I Know Him By Heart" recorded by Vonda Shepard. His acting credits include The Muppet Movie, The Doors, Battle for The Planet Apes, Phantom of the Paradise, and his running portrayal of "Little Enos" in the three Smokey and the Bandit films. Television credits include "Star Trek," "Walker, Texas Ranger," "Picket Fences," "Boston Common," "Babylon 5," and "The Bold and the Beautiful." Williams' standards have been recorded by such musical icons as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, David Bowie, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughan, Bing Crosby, The Carpenters, and more. Mr. Williams is currently on a national tour. Other projects include a performance‚based DVD, "I'm Going To Go Back There Some Day" and Happy Days, a Broadway musical based on the classic television series.

Carol Welsman is an internationally acclaimed vocalist and pianist from Canada with a string of Juno Awards dating to the mid-90's. She was co-host of the 2000 Billboard/BET on Jazz Awards with Herbie Hancock and was voted "Vocalist of the Year" in Canada's 2002 national Jazz Awards. She received the "Distinguished Alumni Award" from Boston's Berklee College of Music in 2003. Jazz Report Magazine named Carol "Best Female Jazz Vocalist of the Year" after her first CD, Lucky To Be Me was released. Several of her albums earned her Juno Award nominations. Carol has performed with many of Canada's top orchestras, including the Toronto Symphony, the Winnipeg Symphony, Symphony Nova Scotia, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra as well concert halls across the United States.
