THE
WEIMAR ROOM CABARET PRESENTS FRINGE 2004
The second
annual Weimar Room Cabaret Fringe Festival will take place from June
11th to July 3rd at THE WEIMAR ROOM (27 Hindley Street, Adelaide 5000

Over a four-week
period the passionate group of Cabaret Fringe 2004 organisers will
turn cabaret on its head by presenting an eclectic mix of performing
arts showcasing their interpretation of the art form. Capturing the
essence of a much misunderstood performance style, the Weimar Room
Cabaret Fringe provides an edgy mix of mainstream, innovative and
occasionally bizarre shows as an alternative to the Cabaret Festival.
The official
launch on Saturday June 12th will feature tantalising previews in
a party atmosphere and will be broadcast direct to air on Radio Adelaide
from 9:00 pm. Entry will be by donation. This donation plus part proceeds
of each subsequent Cabaret Fringe night, will help fund The HIV Women's
Project's inaugural national meeting for HIV positive women and their
families.
MC for the
Cabaret Fringe is last year's Australian Raw Comedy winner Stephen
Sheehan. Usually featured in the jazz comedy Berlin Cabaret (Best
Cabaret 2002), Stephen will infuse the proceedings with his acerbic
wit and improvisational style. Each night features up to 5 shows from
local and national performers. Watch out for the drinks specials after
midnight when the bar becomes the Feather Boa Constrictor Club!
The internationally
notorious Weimar Room is once again home and principal sponsor to
this year's Cabaret Fringe and winner of the 2003 IAF Innovation and
Messenger Press Light Year Performing Arts Awards. The event is partially
funded by ARTS SA with major sponsor Yalumba ensuring every evening
is well lubricated!
