ELAINE ST. GEORGE IN "THE GIRLTHAT I MARRY" WITH CD RELEASE

Just in time for Election season, where gay marriage is a hot-button issue, Elaine St. George will perform her one-woman show, "The Girl That I Marry," at HELEN'S RESTAURANT, CABARET & PIANO LOUNGE (169 Eighth Avenue, NYC - 212-206-0609) for 6 performances, on Tuesdays Oct. 5th through November 16th, all shows at 7:00 pm (no show on November 2nd, Election Day). "The Girl That I Marry" is a witty, light-hearted examination of gay marriage, putting a new spin on great American standards-songs by Harold Arlen, Jerome Kern, Johnny Mercer, Rodgers & Hart, Irving Berlin and Stephen Sondheim, among others. She is accompanied by the jazz-inflected duo of Tedd Firth on piano and bass player Adam Armstrong. The show is being presented by Executive Producer Ethan Geto. There is a cover charge of $15 and a $15 food/drink minimum. $10 cover for members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.

Ms. St. George first performed "The Girl That I Marry" as a cabaret act in 1999. It garnered critical acclaim. All the recent public attention focused on the issue of gay marriage has inspired Ms. St. George to substantially revise the script of "The Girl That I Marry" to include personal anecdotes and social satire. She performed this new version of the show to critical acclaim at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Playwright's Horizons last June. Elaine St. George has become a fixture on the cabaret scene with topical shows such as "All I Need Is The Girl" (1997), "Do Re Mi, Democracy" (2000), and "Ain't We Got Fun," chosen as Best Concept Show of 2002 by Theatermania.

Ms. St. George's second CD, "That Old-Fashioned Love," a six-track EP that includes selections from "The Girl That I Marry," recorded live during the June performances, will be released in late September. It will be distributed by Original Cast Records, and will be available at Tower Record stores, Footlight Records, and wherever cabaret music is sold. It will cost $10.00. It will also be available on the Web site. Copies will be sold at performances of "The Girl That I Marry" at HELEN'S.

Elaine has also been invited to perform at a benefit for the Lesbian Community Cancer Project in Chicago on Sunday, October 17th, at a cabaret brunch in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the SOUTH RESTAURANT (5900 North Broadway, Chicago, Il - 773-561-4662 x 100 or http://www.lccp.org/ ) from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
