The Music of Helen Reddy Soft-Rocks FringeNYC!

REDDY OR NOT! - A musical comedy tribute to Helen Reddy was written by and stars Joanna Parson and Lance Werth as two lovably quirky fans who deal with disaster through the music of 70s easy-listening feminist icon, Helen Reddy. It will be performed as part of the 2004 NY International Fringe Festival at THE SPOTLIGHT LOUNGE at Pace University (3 Spruce Street, NYC - 212-279-4488 - http://www.FringeNYC.org/ ). The theater is just off Park Row, near the corner of Gold Street. The show marks the long-awaited return of director Joseph P. McDonnell to the NY International Fringe Festival after directing the smash hit Urinetown at the 2000 FringeNYC. Tickets are $15. See performance schedule below.

Directed by McDonnell with musical direction by Barbara Anselmi, Reddy or Not includes 70s pop chart hits like "I Am Woman," "You and Me Against the World", and "Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady." It is a hilarious hour that will inspire a whole new generation of "Helen-Heads!"

Joanna Parson is a well-known figure on the cabaret and comedy circuit. She has performed at The Comedy Store in LA, in a National Tour of "Buddy: the Buddy Holly Story," on WNYC's radio program, "The Next Big Thing," and at Don't Tell Mama in her one-person show "What Good Girls Get,"- a New York Post Cabaret Pick.

Lance Werth's writing and performing credits include appearing at the 2002 Aspen Comedy Festival and successful Off-Off Broadway comedies like Night of the Crab, The Nancys - A Broadway Family, and Vulture! His Southern gothic comedy High Cotton is also premiering at this year's FringeNYC (also directed by Joseph P. McDonnell.)

Performances are Friday, August 13th at 11:30 pm; Saturday, August 14th at 10:15 pm; Wednesday, August 18th at 5:45 pm; Friday, August 20th at 4:45 pm; Saturday, August 21st at 9:00 pm; Sunday, August 22nd at 12:45 pm; and Wednesday, August 25th at 7:00 pm.
