BOBBE NORRIS RETURNS TO NEW YORK

January 22nd, Bobbe Norris will be making her first appearance in New York in many years at MAMA ROSE'S (219 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-533-0558 - http://www.mamaroses.net/). Ms. Norris and Larry Dunlap will appear for one night only, for two shows, at 7:00 & 9:30 pm. The 7:00 show will be a reprise of their recent show at THE PLUSH ROOM at the York Hotel (940 Sutter Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-885-2800 - http://www.plushroom.com/) in San Francisco entitled "Songs For Summer Nights," while the 9:30 show, "What We Do Best," will feature their favorite songs, including beautiful ballads and swingers, lots of verses and captivating arrangements. There is a $20 cover, 2-drink minimum.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s vocalist Bobbe Norris was getting star treatment in New York, recording for Columbia and doing all the major rooms, television shows, etc. She moved back to her native San Francisco and dropped out of the music scene for a few years until meeting pianist/arranger Larry Dunlap in the late 1970s. Since joining musical forces they have enjoyed a busy schedule of performances and recordings and were married in 1983.

Their relationship led to a rebirth of Bobbe's career that has seen her performing in Japan, Europe and throughout the western US. They have made several acclaimed recordings in the past 20 years and have remained very active. Bobbe today is a seasoned performer who possesses one of the warmest and most sultry voices that can be heard anywhere.

Together with Larry Dunlap, Bobbe presents shows consisting of standards, many rarely heard, original songs, Brazilian gems and other material, all with very much in a cabaret style but strongly influenced by jazz.

Besides working with Bobbe, Larry has been Dame Cleo Laine's accompanist for over 20 years. He has worked with a wealth of talented instrumentalists and vocalists including Mark Murphy, Mary Cleere Haran, Ann Hampton Callaway, Gerry Mulligan, Art Farmer, Rebecca Parris and Joe Williams.
