Millit Returns in IT'S LOVE!

Singer/actress
Mardie Millit has scheduled a return engagement in her cabaret, IT'S
LOVE! (or a damn fine facsimile), playing Thursdays, April 15th, 22nd,
29th and May 6th at 9:15 pm DANNY'S SKYLIGHT ROOM (346 West 46th Street,
NYC - 1-212-265-8133 - http://www.dannysgrandseapalace.com/
). Letting the songs tell their story, Mardie concentrates on lyrics
that amuse, surprise, delight and maybe even shock. At the piano for
this engagement will be Ryan Hunt. Original musical direction was
by Ken Lundie, and the show's director is Jay E. Raphael. There is
a $10 cover, $10 food/drink minimum.
"The pursuit
of love - with the handicap of an overdeveloped sense of irony" is
the theme of this eclectic collection of songs from the worlds of
theatre, pop and jazz, which loosely follows the story of our heroine
as she journeys from innocence to cynicism and beyond; but as always,
this show is "100% Inner-Child Free." Some of the great Twentieth
Century composers and lyricists celebrated are Kander & Ebb, Marc
Blitzstein, Rodgers & Hart, Hank Beebe, Lerner & Lane, Stephen Sondheim,
Bock & Harnick, and N–el Coward. Familiar pop tunes and unproduced
works by contemporary theatrical composers and lyricists are also
represented in this eclectic, funny and moving show.
Mardie Millit,
a singer with a diverse background in classical, theatrical and pop
music, has been seen in the New York area as Eliza Doolittle in My
Fair Lady and Musetta in La BohPme, and co-starred in the pop revue
Gift from the Heart: the Pat Rasile Songbook, as well as Music In
a Box's Downtown Dysfunctionals II. Regionally she has performed the
roles of Christine in Yeston's Phantom, Sophie in Terrence McNally's
Master Class, Sarah in Guys & Dolls, and Maria in The Sound of Music.
She has recorded original material for several songwriting teams,
can be heard with Ryan Hunt at the piano bars at Danny's Grand Sea
Palace and Regents, and was a regular guest performer at Jim Caruso's
Cast Party.
