Nancy McGraw Sings Cinema Songs

Nancy McGraw returns to DANNY'S SKYLIGHT ROOM (346 West 46th Street, NYC - 1-212-265-8133 - http://www.dannysgrandseapalace.com/ ) with her cabaret show "Cinema Songs" for one night only, on Wednesday, October 20th at 10:00 pm. Movie songs are referenced by songs from contemporary theatre writers, and what they say about the movies. Harry Haun ("Cinematic Century", Playbill) and Charles Nelson (People Magazine) inspired the show, sharing their vast collection of movie songs. McGraw will appear with Paul Greenwood at the piano. Thommie Walsh directs. There is a $10 cover, $10 food/drink minimum.

Songs included in the show were written by Lynn Ahrens, Harold Arlen, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, Francesca Blumenthal, Louis Yule Brown, Sammy Cahn, Gene De Paul, Stephen Flaherty, George Forrest, Ira Gershwin, Norman Gimbel, Mack Gordon, Johnny Green, Yip Harburg, Jerry Herman, Rupert Holmes, Frank Lazarus, Henry Mancini, Lil Mattis, Amanda McBroom, Johnny Mercer, Don Raye, Harry Revel, Leo Robin, David Shire, James Van Heusen, Dick Vosburgh, Harry Warren, and Robert Wright.

In addition to her solo shows, Nancy McGraw sang in the cabaret revues "Noel and Cole" with Julie Wilson and in the Bistro Award winning "Hard Candy, the Songs of Carol Hall." She appeared in the original Broadway cast of the Tony Award winning musical, "Nine" as well as the National Touring Company. She appeared in "Godspell" off-Broadway and The National Tour. Also off-Broadway, she played Connie Boswell in "The Heebie Jeebies" and played dozens of theatre legends in "Forbidden Broadway."

With her husband, Steve McGraw, she owned and operated the cabaret theatre Steve McGraw's on Manhattan's Upper West Side. There she produced The BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS (http://www.bcefa.org/ ) Cabaret Series, which had a 10-year run. Nancy presented countless cabaret performers, and some of Off-Broadway's longest running hits, including "Forever Plaid" and "Forbidden Broadway." She produced the 1999, 2000, and 2001 MAC Awards at THE TOWN HALL in NYC, and produced Frank McCourt and Malachy McCourt's comedy "A Couple of Blaguards," which is now touring internationally.

Nancy is the Program Director of The Songbook Project, which presents both classic and new popular songs in schools, community centers and other venues with the goal of educating and developing new audiences. Nancy is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Music.
